Chapter Five will demonstrate the project-wide effort to reduce energy consumption. As buildings are a leading source of greenhouse gases in Vancouver, energy conservation is a focal point of the Olympic Village development. This chapter presents the integrated approach to energy systems at the neighbourhood, building and residential unit scales. Topics include sewer heat recovery, solar hot water, Net Zero building, radiant heating and cooling, and in-suite meters that encourage occupants to reduce their energy footprint.
