Spin-Off Achievements
- The city chose to adopt a green building rating system to ensure a high level of environmental design at SEFC. In order to be applied to the SEFC project, the LEED standard was adapted for use in Canada. The Canadian version of LEED led to the development of the LEED Canada certification system and ultimately the formation of the Canada Green Building Council.
- The development of a Green Building Strategy to guide the development of SEFC led to the creation of a city-wide green building strategy and ultimately to the creation of the City of Vancouver’s Office of Sustainability.
